Document damage and apply for aid

Dear Rocky Ripple community,

We wanted to share some information now as we work on clean up and recovery. Whether you have flood insurance or not, we advise that you contact your insurance company as soon as possible.

What to do now:

1. Contact your insurance company as soon as possible. File a claim for homeowners, renters, floor and/or business insurance as applicable.

2. Document every loss before you clean up. Photograph and video all damage to your home, business, vehicles and belongings from multiple angles. Keep receipts for any emergency supplies.

3. Report your damage here: https://www.indy.gov/activity/disaster-damage-reporting-form. This website has more information on flood recovery and resources, too: https://www.indy.gov/activity/flood-resources

4.  Apply to Indiana's State Disaster Relief Fund. This fund is available now for households whose losses are not covered by insurance or other aid. Applications and eligibility information are available through the Indiana Department of Homeland Security: in.gov/dhs

5. Prepare to register with FEMA. If a Major Disaster Declaration with Individual Assistance is approved, register as soon as possible at DisasterAssistance.gov or call 1-800-621-3362.

Taking these steps now will not delay your ability to apply for aid later - it will strengthen it. Documentation gathered today is what supports the county, state and federal damage assessments used to justify individual assistance.
