I have been in discussions with CEG about the recent high levels of water and an area of the canal needing to be remediated.
Starting this Friday the 8th, the remediation of the canal banking just North of the 53rd street bridge will be happening. Canal Blvd will see closures during the work. They are hoping to have this work completed that day.
Starting today, CEG has a vegetation removal boat starting at the Illinois Street bridge and will be working downstream past Rocky Ripple. This will remove the overgrown aquatic vegetation that is causing some of the high-water issues in this area. We do not have a full timeline when that will be completed.
We will have additional details at the next Town council meeting next Tuesday night the 12th at 7:30 PM at town hall.
