CEG had a meeting on Friday and below are the steps they will be taking.
- They are committed to maintaining the current levels of the canal through continued use of their downstream intakes as needed.
- They believe they have found the primary flow restriction in the canal resulting in the abnormal levels, caused by dense aquatic weeds around 30th st. They are actively cutting weeds there now so they should have more insight next week. they will also be taking some depth measurements to determine if there is excessive sedimentation, or something else not visible at the surface occurring.
- They will be contracting with Arcadis, a national engineering firm, to evaluate if there is a clear reason that the elevated canals levels are correlated with the observations of water seeping in Rocky Ripple.
- They are prepared to contract with Christopher B. Burke Engineering, a local firm with Dam and Levee experts, to conduct detailed field studies, as needed, based on the feedback from Arcadis’ review.
The people that had flooding into their basements have been put in touch with the claims department at CEG.
As we get more details, we will make sure to share them with the community.
